A district win is a district win.
La Porte caused many turnovers in the first half and made stops at key times in the second half to beat Channelview 21-0 in Channelview last Friday.
I listened to this one online because I was out of town.
La Porte jumped all over Channelview 21-0 in the first half. The defense set up a short field for the offense by getting in the backfield continuously. They capitalized with three scores.
However in the second half the offense did not get going at all. Lots of turnovers by both teams led to a sloppy second half performance and especially for the Bulldogs.
On the radio broadcast the announcers gave the most praise to Freshman RB/DB Hoza Scott, who made numerous plays on defense as a safety. They also complimented Sophomore DE Corey Lee for getting into the backfield and making disruptive plays.
The Houston Chronicle doesn't have any stats for the game, so I don't know the final numbers.
La Porte moves to 5-1 on the season and need a impressive performance against Baytown Sterling this week. Channelview is now 0-6 on the season. Hopefully I can get some stats and have a better breakdown of how the total offense and defense broke down.
If anyone attended and had thoughts on the game please share.
One of the worst games played thus far. Very sloppy. Offense couldn't get anything going after halftime. This game should have easily been a 40-50 point blowout. They better step it up, because this was the last cupcake (so to speak) on the schedule. The next 4 games will let LP know where they really stand in one of the areas toughest districts. Let's get 'em dawgs!
ReplyDeleteThat's what I figured when I was listening. Turnovers, penalties.
ReplyDeleteThis is the time of year the Bulldogs usually turn the corner and get ready for the playoffs, we will find out the next four weeks!
