La Porte takes down Clear Brook in a 17 hour game

La Porte defeated Clear Brook last Friday in a game that spanned 2 days.  With Clear Brook up 7-0 and almost 3 minutes left in the 1st quarter a lightning storm came close to the stadium for a couple hours causing the game to be postponed and delayed til 1030 Saturday.  Clear Brook had dominated the first 9 minutes of action Friday night.

Saturday started with a totally different La Porte mindset and much better execution.  Senior Quarterback Austin Upshaw rallied the Dogs beginning on the first play of the 2nd quarter with a 21 yard pass to Junior Trent Ormsbee, followed by two more touchdowns.  Upshaw would find the corner for a 32 yard touchdown run, then just before halftime Upshaw found Senior Kevrin Busby for a dazzling 42 yard touchdown pass with jukes and broken tackles.  La Porte lead 21-7 at halftime.

The defense, lead by Senior Terrel Bernard, had many key stops in a row to get La Porte back into the game and out to a commanding lead.

Busby would add a 19 yard run in the 3rd quarter to give the Bulldogs a 3 touchdown advantage.

Clear Brook scored a couple times with the help of a onside kick, but too little too late.  La Porte held on 28-20.
